Summer Art Exhibition
Our upcoming community art project in conjunction with ColourMeIn Art School (a not for profit organisation), aims to celebrate the community of Enfield, it’s cultural diversity will involve over 2000 children. The project design will be based around money and the work of the artist Andy Warhol’s “Money Factory”. Each school will create a mural with bank notes that the children have designed and coloured, when displayed all together will spell ‘ENFIELD COMMUNITY’. The murals will be displayed in the style similar to Andy Warhol’s “Money Factory” which will circle a sculpture and installation of an ATM machine which will be decorated with more bank notes, this celebrates the significance of the first ATM is the UK being installed in Enfield Town in June 1967.
The bank notes centre around the mythological creature of Enfield that is used as the Enfield logo. The fictitious character is formed from the head of a fox, the chest of the greyhound, the body of a lion, the tail of the wolf and the legs and talons of the eagle. Each school has been allocated one animal as the icon of their bank note and the mascot for their school. These creatures within the logo also have power words that each school has embraced such as wisdom, prowess, courage, friendship and strength.
The children (Reception through to year 6) have been incredibly excited to be part of this project. Due to increasing funding restraints, schools have difficulty providing creative opportunities like this which is paramount to the wellbeing and learning potential of our children. This is why we are looking for local businesses and our parents to sponsor the event.
· Do you have any links with local a local Enfield business? Their logo can be displayed in a variety of sponsorship options such as the exhibition brochure.
· Would you like to make a contribution (no matter how small) towards this event? You can do so through our crowdfunding page https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/colourmeinartschool?utm_id=2&utm_term=gQ7GkK52b
The money raised will go to the ELC and support our schools with future creative opportunities.
The final exhibition will be in the foyer of the Dugdale Centre from 12 noon on Sunday 30th June to Sat 6th July and we welcome to all visitors to view this exciting display
